Severance payments.
Recommendation:
3. The Court has considered the submissions made by the parties.
It is satisfied that in order to ensure the continued operation of
the plant in Cork an early and positive decision on the Company's
proposals is required. The Court is further satisfied that terms
such as those suggested by the Union are beyond the means of the
Company to meet.
In these circumstances, therefore, the Court recommends that the
Company should agree to amend its proposals to provide #375 per
year of service where appropriate and that the proposals so
amended should be accepted by the workers concerned.
