Claim on behalf of certain workers for the payment of a special allowance in respect of cleaning duties carried out in the operating theatres at Beaumont Hospital.
Recommendation:
3. The Court has noted that the position in relation to the
contract and the arrangements for theatre cleaning have not yet
been finalised between the hospital and the firm but that the
position should be clarified within the next four weeks. The
Court recommends that when the position is being finalised the
question of the payment of allowances for theatre cleaning should
be discussed between the parties. In the interim, however, and
without prejudice to the final outcome, the Court recommends that
each of the claimants be paid a further sum of £40 and that the
union not proceed with the proposed industrial action.
