Recommendation:
3. Having heard the submission made by the worker concerned, the
Court is satisfied that he was not guilty of any misconduct and
that he was unfairly dismissed.
The Court, therefore, recommends that the Company provide him with
a reference confirming that he had resigned and confirming his
satisfactory work record in their service, and that he should be
paid a sum of #280 as compensation for their refusal to allow him
to work his period of notice.

SUBJECT:
1. Alleged unfair dismissal.
BACKGROUND:
2. On 2nd December, 1988 the worker referred this dispute to the
Labour Court under Section 20(1) of the Industrial Relations Act,
1969. A Court hearing took place on 5th January, 1989. The
employer declined an invitation to attend. Prior to the hearing
the worker agreed to be bound by the Court's recommendation. The
following is the Court's recommendation.
