Labour Court Database __________________________________________________________________________________ File Number: CD89487 Case Number: LCR12471 Section / Act: S67 Parties: SOUTH EASTERN HEALTH BOARD - and - IRISH TRANSPORT AND GENERAL WORKERS' UNION;FEDERATED WORKERS UNION OF IRELAND |
Dispute relating to hospital catering services.
Recommendation:
3. The Court, having considered the submissions made by the
parties, recommends that the Board suspend its decision to
transfer catering services from Kilcreene for a period of three
months. During this period the Board should request from their
consultants a preliminary report outlining, to the extent possible
at this stage, the changes in employment levels arising from the
introduction of the cook chill catering system and, in particular,
the likely location of the central kitchen. The Court is of the
opinion that such information would be sufficient to allow the
Unions to withdraw their objections to the closure of the
Kilcreene kitchens on the terms suggested by the Board, and the
Court further recommends that they then do so.
