Labour Court Database __________________________________________________________________________________ File Number: CD89357 Case Number: LCR12429 Section / Act: S67 Parties: TARA MINES LIMITED - and - IRISH TRANSPORT AND GENERAL WORKERS' UNION |
Claim on behalf of 9 crusher operators for compensation for the introduction of new technology.
Recommendation:
3. The Court has considered the submissions made by the parties.
Having regard to the nature of the work of the new crusher system,
the general improvement in conditions for the operators concerned
and the fact that the operators benefit from the plant bonus, the
Court is of the opinion that the extension of the Miners' Bonus,
which with few exceptions is confined to a well-defined group of
workers, is not warranted.
The Court therefore recommends that the Company's offer be
accepted and that work commence on all crushers without further
delay.
