Recommendation:
The Court finds that although there appears to have been a genuine
redundancy situation, the selection of the complainant
for dismissal was mainly due to the fact that she
was female.
Accordingly the Court is satisfied that
the complaint is well-founded and pursuant to
its powers under section 26(1)(d)(iii) of the
said Act hereby directs Grimwall Limited of 33, Lower
O'Connell Street, Dublin 1 to pay to Sharon O'Neill of
12, Glenfarne Road, Raheny, Dublin 5, the sum of #600.
00 compensation, which said sum the Court
considers reasonable in the circumstances.

SUBJECT:
1. The complainant alleged that she was discriminated against by
the employer in relation to a dismissal, contrary to section 3(4)
of the Employment Equality Act, 1977.
BACKGROUND:
2. The Labour Court investigated the complaint on the 26th
January, 1989 and heard all persons appearing to the Court to be
interested and desiring to be heard.
ORDER:
The Court finds that although there appears to have been a genuine
redundancy situation, the selection of the complainant for
dismissal was mainly due to the fact that she was female.
Accordingly the Court is satisfied that the complaint is
well-founded and pursuant to its powers under section
26(1)(d)(iii) of the said Act hereby directs Grimwall Limited of
33, Lower O'Connell Street, Dublin 1 to pay to Sharon O'Neill of
