Rationalisation proposals.
Recommendation:
3. Having regard to the immediate need to ensure the survival of
the paper and prior to the general detailed recommendation which
will give the context in which any changes should occur, the Court
recommends that the I.P.U. meet with Management to discuss the
practical difficulties arising from their proposed supplemental
agreement, including the application of the 5 shift system. This
without prejudice to the Union's objection in principle to the 5
shift system.
The Court makes this recommendation in order that the Union and
Company will be in a position to return to the Court prior to the
issuing of the main recommendation, with a full list of unresolved
issues.
