Recommendation:
3. Having considered the submissions from the parties the Court
recommends that the Company increases the offer of compensation by
#500 nett and that the Union accept the offer so revised. The
Court further recommends that the Union agree to the
implementation of the Company's proposal from the date of
acceptance of the above.

MARINE PORT AND GENERAL WORKER'S UNION
SUBJECT:
1. Dispute concerning the level of compensation payable to lorry
helpers following re-organisation of transport fleet.
BACKGROUND:
2. The above dispute was referred to the conciliation service of
the Labour Court on 25th October, 1990. A number of conciliation
conferences were held between the 30th October, 1990 and 26th
November, 1990. As no agreement was reached the parties consented
to a referral to the Labour Court for investigation and
recommendation. A Court hearing was held on 2nd January, 1991.
RECOMMENDATION:
3. Having considered the submissions from the parties the Court
recommends that the Company increases the offer of compensation by
#500 nett and that the Union accept the offer so revised. The
Court further recommends that the Union agree to the
implementation of the Company's proposal from the date of
acceptance of the above.
