PARTIES: OLYMPIA THEATRE
(REPRESENTED BY THE IRISH BUSINESS AND EMPLOYERS CONFEDERATION)
and
SERVICES INDUSTRIAL PROFESSIONAL TECHNICAL UNION
SUBJECT:
1. Dispute concerning the payment of double-show rate.
BACKGROUND:
2. The Labour Court investigated the above dispute at its Offices
at Tom Johnson House, Haddington Road, Dublin 4 on 9th August,
1993.
RECOMMENDATION:
3. The Court recognises the need for the parties to reach
agreement as a matter of urgency if available business is to be
attracted to the theatre and the earning potential of the staff is
to be enhanced.
The Court recommends therefore that the parties have further
direct discussions with a view to reaching an agreement regarding
short duration afternoon shows.
These discussions to be completed on or before Friday 13th August,
1993.
In the event that the parties fail to reach an agreement the Court
will issue a definitive recommendation.
