Hearing arising from LCR14470.
Recommendation:
Arising from Labour Court Recommendation No 14470 the Court heard
further submissions from the parties in relation to the items in
dispute. The Court notes that the issues had again been the
subject of conciliation at the Labour Relations Commission. The
Court also notes that the Company declined the Courts request to
postpone implementation of compulsory redundancies and despite
being given an urgent hearing implemented 3 redundancies on the
date of the hearing.
The Court has considered all the submissions and recommends the
following terms to be applied to all employees who were made
redundant in Woodchester Bank.
Severance Pay 6 weeks pay per year of service plus
statutory with a minimum payment of
#5,000 and a maximum of 2.5 years'.
Mortgage Discount As per 1992 Severance Agreement.
Pension benefit As per Company offer.
Life Assurance Cover to continue for a period of 1
year.
V.H.I. Cover to continue to renewal date.
Out Placement As per Company offer.
Company Cars Arising from statements made at the
hearing the Union should be given
further opportunities to evaluate the
Company's proposals vis a vis their
claim. Following which the Company
should accept whichever option the
Unions select.
In relation to the 3 employees made redundant on the 29th July,
the Court further recommends that they be paid a further 1 months
salary.
