This case concerns an allegation by the union that, in failing to count a discretionary period of four weeks additional maternity leave (unpaid) as reckonable service for promotional purposes, the respondents discriminated against Ms O'Gorman on grounds of her sex contrary to the provisions of Section 3 of the Employment Equality Act, 1977 in terms of Section 2 of that Act.
