The dispute concerns a claim by a named male complainant that a Government Department discriminated against him contrary to the provisions of the Employment Equality Act, 1977 and the Employment Equality Act, 1998 when it is alleged that a senior male official in the Department made a remark to him of a sexual nature concerning the complainant and a female colleague. The complainant also alleges that he was penalised by the Department on foot of having referred the complaint to the Director of Equality Investigations (the Director). In keeping with the general policy of the Director's Office in relation to complaints of sexual harassment, the parties to this complaint are not named in this decision.
