Employment Equality Act, 1998 Sections 6 and 8 - Employment - Discriminatory treatment - Discriminatory Question - Gender - Marital Status - Family Status - Age
The complainant alleges that he was discriminated against by the Department on the grounds of gender, marital status, family status and age in terms of Sections 6(2)(a), 6(2)(b), 6(2)(c) and 6(2)(f) of the Employment Equality Act, 1998 and contrary to Section 8 of that Act when he was asked a discriminatory question. He also contends that the arrangements for foreign postings and allowances are discriminatory. While the Department accepts that it did ask the question referred to by the complainant, the Department says that it was not discriminatory given the context in which it was asked. The Department denies that its arrangements for foreign postings and allowances are discriminatory.
