INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS ACTS, 1946 TO 2004 SECTION 26(1), INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS ACT, 1990 PARTIES : IRISH LEAGUE OF CREDIT UNIONS (REPRESENTED BY IRISH BUSINESS AND EMPLOYERS' CONFEDERATION) - AND - AMICUS DIVISION : Chairman: Mr McGee Employer Member: Mr Doherty Worker Member: Ms Ni Mhurchu |
1. Matters arising from Labour Court Recommendation LCR 18688.
BACKGROUND:
2. Following the issue of Labour Court Recommendation LCR 18688, the parties returned to talks under the aegis of an Industrial Relations Officer of the Labour Relations Commission. Following this engagement, the parties again failed to reach agreement on the issue of the apportionment of the 2.7% funding increase, and referred the matter back to the Labour Court for Recommendation. The following is the Court's recommendation:
RECOMMENDATION:
The Court has considered the position arising in this case subsequent to the issue of Labour Court Recommendation, LCR18688.
The Court is disappointed at the failure of the parties to engage meaningfully and to resolve this dispute even with the assistance of the Industrial Relations Officer, given their joint wish to maintain and preserve the existing Defined Benefit Pension Scheme.
In all the circumstances, the Court recommends that the required 2.7% increase in pension contributions be apportioned on the basis of the members bearing 1.7% of the increase and the I.L.C.U. bearing the other 1%.
Signed on behalf of the Labour Court
Raymond McGee
