1. Profit share, service days, on-site surgery
BACKGROUND:
2. The Company, which is located in Tallaght, is due to close down in 2009 with the loss of 220 production jobs. The dispute was referred to the Labour Relations Commissions and a conciliation conference took place. As the parties could not reach agreement the dispute was referred to the Labour Court on the 25th November, 2008, in accordance with Section 26(1) of the Industrial Relations Act, 1990. There were three issues referred to the Court; (1) Profit Share, (2) Services Days, and (3) On-Site Surgery. Prior to the Labour Court hearing the parties made considerable progress on the issues and the Company made an offer which the Unions were prepared to recommend.
A Labour Court hearing took place on the 29th January, 2009. The following is the Court's recommendation:-
RECOMMENDATION:
1. €150 voucher to employees who were made redundant between the end of January, 2008, and 1st September, 2009.
2. €250 voucher to employees who were made redundant from 1st September, 2008, to 1st December, 2008.
3. €250 voucher and entitlement to 50% of their service days for employees being made redundant in 2009.
