Determination:
The claimant told the Tribunal that he commenced employment with the respondent in February 2008 and his employment terminated on the 1st April 2010 when his foreman told him he was being laid off. The respondent ceased trading. The claimant received compensation in respect of one weeks’ notice. He is entitled to compensation in the amount of €973.05 which is equivalent to one further weeks’ gross pay under the Minimum Notice and Terms of Employment Acts, 1973 to 2005.
There is a ceiling of €600.00 on all awards made from the Social Insurance Fund.
