At the outset of the hearing the appeal under the Redundancy Payments Acts, 1967 to 2007 was withdrawn.
The decision of the Tribunal was as follows:-
Determination:
There was no appearance by or on behalf of the respondent and the Tribunal is satisfied that the respondent was duly notified of the hearing.
Based on the appellant’s uncontested evidence the Tribunal awards him €5,026.32 which is the equivalent of eight weeks pay (€628.29 x 8) under the Minimum Notice and Terms of Employment Acts, 1973 to 2005.
It should be noted that a weekly ceiling of €600.00 currently applies to payments from the Social Insurance Fund.
This award is subject to the appellant having been in employment, which is insurable for all purposes under the Social Welfare Consolidation Act 2005.
