Procedure:
In accordance with Section 25 of the Equal Status Act, 2000, following the referral of the complaint to me by the Director General, I inquired into the complaint and gave the parties an opportunity to be heard by me and to present to me any evidence relevant to the complaint.
Both respondents attended at the appointed time and place, the complainant failed to attend and failed to make contact to explain his non-attendance.
Background:
The complainant alleged that he had been discriminated against by reason of gender and race in the provision of goods and services i.e. accommodation. |
Summary of Complainant’s Case:
The complainant failed to attend and therefore no case was presented. |
Summary of Respondent’s Case:
The respondents gave a brief explanation of the same. They have no knowledge of the complainant and have never met him. |
Findings and Conclusions:
Having failed to attend there is no complaint to answer – for this reason the complaint is rejected. |
Decision:
Section 25 of the Equal Status Acts, 2000 – 2015 requires that I make a decision in relation to the complaint in accordance with the relevant redress provisions under section 27 of that Act.
For non-attendance, there is no case to answer. |
