Procedure:
In accordance with Section 41 of the Workplace Relations Act, 2015 and/or Section 39 of the Redundancy Payments Acts 1967 - 2014 following the referral of the complaint(s)/dispute(s) to me by the Director General, I inquired into the complaint(s)/dispute(s) and gave the parties an opportunity to be heard by me and to present to me any evidence relevant to the complaint(s)/dispute(s).
Background:
The Complainant worked for the Respondent in a pizza restaurant in Monaghan town. In March 2017 the restaurant shut down, the doors were locked and the equipment was removed. The Respondent gave the employees no notice that this would occur and he did not make contact with them afterwards. |
Summary of Complainant’s Case:
The Complainant started work on 21 November 2014 working in a pizza restaurant He was made redundant in 12 March 2017 when without notice the business closed down and the equipment was removed. His weekly salary was €121.42 which was confirmed in his P.60 form |

I find that the Complaint to be well founded in that the Complainant was made redundant on 12 March 2017, no defence having been raised by the Respondent |
