Procedure:
In accordance with Section 41 of the Workplace Relations Act, 2015 and Section 6 of the Payment of Wages Act 1991,following the referral of the complaint to me by the Director General, I inquired into the complaint and gave the parties an opportunity to be heard by me and to present to me any evidence relevant to the complaint.
Background:
The Complaint is that the Respondent failed to pay the final week’s wage to the Complainant. |
Summary of Complainant’s Case:
The Complainant stated that she worked for the Respondent from 25th March 2019 to 2nd June 2019. She produced a payslip which showed she was due the net sum of €471.81 for the last week she was employed. Despite several attempts by her to have the Respondent pay her the due wages, the Respondent failed to respond to her. |
Summary of Respondent’s Case:
The Respondent, having been notified of the date time and venue for the hearing convened to consider the complaint, failed to attend and no explanation was provided for his non attendance. |
Decision:
Based on the uncontested evidence of the Complainant I have decided that her complaint is well founded. I require the Respondent to pay to the Complainant the net sum of €471.81 within 6 weeks of the date of this decision.
