Procedure:
In accordance with Section 41 of the Workplace Relations Act, 2015 [and/or Section 39 of the Redundancy Payments Acts 1967 - 2014] following the referral of the complaint(s) to me by the Director General, I inquired into the complaints and gave the parties an opportunity to be heard by me and to present to me any evidence relevant to the complaint(s).

Minimum Notice & terms of Employment Act 1973
The claimant was employed by the respondent from the 5th January 2015 to the 14th May 2019 as a print finisher and customer service person.
He worked 40 hours per week and he was paid €520 gross (€488.82 net) per week.
It was stated that the claimant received a text from the respondent on 14th May 2019 stating that that he (respondent) has been trying to figure out something with the owner of the premises regarding the rent for the location.
The text message stated the rent that was being looked for was too high and the respondent could not afford to pay it and unfortunately the respondent had no choice but to close the business.
Findings
The respondent did not attend.
Decision:
Section 41 of the Workplace Relations Act 2015 requires that I make a decision in relation to the complaint(s)/dispute(s) in accordance with the relevant redress provisions under Schedule 6 of that Act.
Based on the uncontested evidence I find the complaint to be well founded and based on his service with the respondent i.e. 5th January 2015 to the 14th May 2019 I award the claimant 2 weeks pay. I.E €1042.00gross.

Redundancy Payments Act 1967-2014
Background
The claimant was employed by the respondent from the 5th January 2015 to the 14th May 2019 as a print finisher and customer service person.
He worked 40 hours per week and he was paid €520 gross (€488.82 net) per week. The claimant stated that he had not been paid his redundancy when the company closed.
Findings
The respondent did not attend.
Decision
Section 39 of the Redundancy Payments Acts 1967 – 2012 requires that I make a decision in relation to the complaint in accordance with the relevant redress provisions under that Act.
Based on the uncontested evidence I find the complaint to be well founded and I award the claimant for the period of his service from 5th January 2015 to the 14th May 2019 his redundancy payment @ €520 per week.
