Procedure:
In accordance with Section 41 of the Workplace Relations Act, 2015 and Section 39 of the Redundancy Payments Act 1967,following the referral of the complaint to me by the Director General, I inquired into the complaint and gave the parties an opportunity to be heard by me and to present to me any evidence relevant to the complaint.

Summary of Complainant’s Case:
The Complainant was employed by the Respondent from 20th November 2000 to 2nd November 2018. The Respondent then told her that the business was closing. She subsequently learned that the business was wound up on 16th November 2018. |

The Respondent was notified of the date, time and venue for the hearing but did not attend or send a representative. |
Decision:
Section 39 of the Redundancy Payments Acts 1967 – 2012 requires that I make a decision in relation to the complaint in accordance with the relevant redress provisions under that Act.
I have decided that the Complainant is entitled to a statutory redundancy lump sum payment of €15,688 on the basis that she was in insurable employment for the requisite period and based on the following:
Employment commencement date: 20/11/2000
Employment end date: 16/11/2018
Service: 18 years
Gross weekly pay: €424
36 weeks + 1 X €424: €15,688
