Procedure:

In accordance with the Redundancy Payments Acts 1967 – 2014following the referral of the complaint to me by the Director General, I inquired into the complaint and gave the parties an opportunity to be heard and to present any evidence relevant to the complaint. The hearing was held in the Hearing Rooms of the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) in Carlow.

There was no appearance by or on behalf of the complainant. There was no appearance by or on behalf of the respondent. I am satisfied that the complainant was on notice of the hearing as details were sent by registered post on 25th October 2023.

Background:

The complainant submitted a complaint under the Redundancy Payments Acts received by the WRC on 21st July 2023.

There was no appearance by the complainant to pursue his complaint and give evidence.

There was no appearance by the respondent.

Findings and Conclusions:

I am satisfied that the complainant was on notice of the hearing. As no evidence was presented by the complainant, I find that the complaint is not well founded.

I decide to disallow the complainant’s appeal.

Decision:

Section 39 of the Redundancy Payments Acts requires that I make a decision in relation to the complaint in accordance with the relevant redress provisions under that Act.
