Reformed workplace dispute resolution bodies of the state now under one roof –
Dublin, 21st of November 2016: Minister of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Mary Mitchell-O’Connor T.D., today (Monday), officially opened the new offices of the WRC and Labour Court.
Today the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation officially opened the new Headquarters of the Labour Court and the WRC.
For the first time, this new office will enable all of the dispute resolution bodies of the state to be located under one roof in Lansdowne House. The five bodies previously responsible for resolving workplace disputes are merged into two, to provide a better service at less cost to the State, employers and employees.
Speaking at the official opening, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Mary Mitchell-O’Connor T.D said, “I am delighted to officially open the new offices of the WRC and Labour Court, this now brings all the dispute resolution bodies of the state under one roof. This move to the new Headquarters is a significant step in the reform process taking us closer to the Government’s vision of a world-class workplace relations service as envisaged by Government and enshrined in the Workplace Relations Act 2015. Merging five previous work place relations bodies into two has been the most far-reaching legislative reform in the area of employment and industrial relations in almost 70 years. I want to particularly congratulate the work of the staff in the work place relations commission for their hard work and dedication during this reform."
The Minister wished Mr. Kevin Foley, Chairman of the Labour Court and Ms. Oonagh Buckley, Director General of the WRC and their teams every success for the future in this new location.”

With effect from 1st October 2015, the activities of the Labour Relations Commission, the National Employment Rights Authority, the Equality Tribunal and the first instance functions of the Employment Appeals Tribunal and the Labour Court were merged into a new Body of First Instance, known as the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC).
From 1st October 2015, all complaints fall to be referred to the WRC in the first instance, and on appeal, to the Labour Court.
The new office is located at Lansdowne House, Lansdowne Road, Dublin 4.
