The Protected Disclosures Act 2014 as amended by the Protected Disclosures (Amendment) Act 2022 protects workers who raise concerns about relevant wrongdoing in their workplace from dismissal, penalisation or other sanctions by their employers. Anyone who hinders a worker in making a report or brings vexatious proceedings or breaches the duty of confidentiality commits an offence under the Act. It is also important to note that a reporting person who makes a report containing any information that he or she knows to be false commits an offence.
